The evangalists at Adobe have introduced a new version of Tour de Flex, which is available via an AIR application and web site. This is a great resource for Flex/AIR developers to see examples and code for the core Flex components, Adobe AIR, data integration, third-party components, effects, skins, and more.

You’d think yesterday’s release of Google Gears would cramp the offline ambitions of Adobe Apollo. However, if you read the press release carefully, Kevin Lynch of Adobe says, “the Gears API will be available in Apollo…”

After announcing they would share the source for the Actionscript engine, Adobe has announced they will also Open Source Flex and Apollo technologies. With Flex becoming the center of the Adobe development universe, it makes you wonder with whom Adobe is preparing to compete?

If you’re still questioning the power of Apollo Applications, check out what Grant Skinner is developing. gTimer is an Apollo Time Tracking Application, which was developed in Flex, deployed via Apollo and will run on Windows and Mac.
