After having a son with Downs syndrome, she went on to found a church for families with special needs kids, started Indiana’s first Cub Scout troop for handicapped kids, sponsored Indiana’s first Boy Scout troop for the same kids and has been the organizer/matriarch for a monthly party that allows 150 special needs kids to have a social life like their peers. These are just a few ways my grandmother dedicated her life to the service and joy of others.
