Why would Apple want to release a mobile phone? Steve announced the reason and the phone today, “957 million mobile phones sold last year… 1% market share is 10 million phones.”

…and the fact that Apple announced at the same time that they would drop the “computer” from their Name. Now they are just Apple.

Look at Apple over the last several years… They’re not competing with Microsoft or Dell, their main competition is Sony!
The name change and the new hardware lineup says so.
